I am one of 6 other brides (that I know of) this summer. And 1 of 2 that has chosen the same date, that I know of. It may not seem like a big deal, but it really can be. For a while I started to feel like just one of the crowd, no big deal. Then the anti-wedding feel came on… and it lasted longer than I wish to divulge.
As I look on today, I realize, I am not one of many. I am not just apart of the crowd. We are, Matthew & Angela, two people choosing to spend the rest of their lives together and would like to share that with their dearest family & friends.
It puts things into perspective, as much as you want to have the day to really just be about you two and the beauty of it all, it’s easy to get swept up in the “oh gosh, what are people going to think of my flowers”, “my dress isn’t big or expensive enough”, or “we don’t have enough money to have a nice wedding”. All so incredibly untrue.
I don’t mean to be rude, but in all honesty, I don’t really care what people think of our wedding day. I know, and Matthew knows, that we will love it, and by 7:45pm we will be a married couple, starting our own journey of life together as one. Of course we want people to have fun and enjoy themselves, but if my flowers from the farmer’s market just aren’t big enough for Aunt Agnes, well then I’m sorry Aunt Agnes but I think they are just perfect.
A whole new perspective.
